Packing Tips 101:
1. Roll – don’t fold clothes.
This is an expert tip that is especially helpful for smaller suitcases. By tightly rolling your clothes, they will take up less space while decreasing the chance that they will become wrinkled while traveling. It can also be helpful to invest in Packing Cubes to tightly pack multiple rolled items in a confined space.
2. Neutral Colors are your friend!
By packing your blacks, whites, and nudes, you will be able to add on accessories to easily change up your daily look. Accessories are typically smaller and more versatile, giving the illusion you brought multiple outfits, while lessening your suitcase’s weight.
3. Be aware of your airlines restrictions on what you can and cannot pack.
Nothing is worse than arriving at an airport and realizing you are carrying an item with you that is not allowed on the plane. Make sure you check with your specific airline carrier about their item restrictions, especially since it can vary from airline to airline. Remember that hazardous materials are not permitted in either carryon or checked luggage.
4. Think about what you can do without, not what could be convenient to carry with you.
Be logical: Is this item really necessary to carry across the world? Will I actually wear 3 different pairs of boots or will one pair be fine? By being rational with yourself while packing, you can ensure to pack the lightest bag possible.
5. Don’t leave home without Converters!
While traveling abroad, you may not be able to use your typical phone or computer charger. Many countries require converters in order to plug in your devices, so make sure to check ahead with your destination’s converter requirements so you are well prepared!
